Afternoon Tea at the Midlands Hotel

By 07:29

As part of my birthday weekend in Manchester my boyfriend made a reservation at the Midlands Hotel for the festive champagne afternoon tea. For years of traveling the UK now I strangely never found time for an afternoon tea, that consists of several sweet and savoury courses, traditionally served on smaller trays and étagères.

The hotel is one of the most iconic buildings in Manchester, a quiet traditional island only a stone´s throw away from the busy town hall centre, that was buzzing from the German christmas market when we visited.
In the lobby we were escorted to our table and in no time our champagne and the best glass of mulled wine I´ve ever had arrived.
Listening to the fantastic piano player who must have had a massive love for Take That and Robbie Williams songs the atmosphere was very relaxed and ,despite the hotel setting, very laid back.
