Dress for Success Charity Event

By 02:14

Being a young fashion fanatic it´s easy to forget how gifted your life actually is. You go to uni or just started a career, have little obligations, you can afford chasing the latest runway trends and are benefiting from a network of like-minded women around you. This international women´s day it was time for me to bring focus to women in our society that are struggling to make their way (back) in to business life and how everyone can make a difference in the lives of women.

Dress for Success is a charity aiming at counseling women every step of the way into their new work life: It starts with
  1.  providing the right clothes for an interview
  2.  styling advice
  3.  but also confidence training
  4.  and practicing interview skills is on the list.

It sounds simple, but everyone knows the power of a good suit or the feeling a well fitted dress gives you: You feel like you can tackle everything.

To quote Marilyn Monroe: "Give the girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world"

The giving part on your side involves the donation of work- wear but if you´d like to volunteer in a more creative way also acting as a personal stylist would be an option.

On women´s day the event was hosted in the lovely and über-stylish rooms of BHive, a Women´s Business Club, just off luxurious King St. Besides networking and learning how I personally could get involved in working with charity, a charity raffle featured amazing prizes from Jo Malone or Stella & Dot.

If "volunteering" or "work for charity" was on your 2013 resolutions list just do it and get in contact with Anna-Louise Gilhooley at manchester@dressforsuccess.org or call 0333-444 0530 www.dressforsuccessmcr.org
