Hotel recommendation Paris- Hotel Soft- My experience

By 03:28 ,

Here are a few impressions of our hotel room at Hotel SOFT  in Paris near Gare de l´est and Canal St. Martin. As our trip wasn´t about spending a lot of time in a hotel or looking for a luxurious spa trip we opted for a three star hotel close to the train station where we would arrive. I´m fully aware that the area near central station isn´t the most recommendable as it´s usually the rather bad area of town, yet we found the location pleasant with lots of restaurants near the Canal St Martin area. In total the walk from the station was 5 minutes and proved to be a good starting point for exploring the inner city, with the Louvre only being a couple of Metro stops away ( 1,30 € for the route/ one way).

We let them know by email a couple days in advance that we would arrive around 1pm and they promised a room ready upon arrival. Arriving at the hotel we were given a spacious room after a 10 minute wait, including the complementary wifi code! The room itself was spotlessly clean, with a very design-y contemporary look. In a cupboard we found a safe, free of charge, and more pillows. What more do you need for a quick city break? Yes, a comfy bed at night, and I can tell you the beds were nearly as good as in luxury hotel I have tested before.

The breakfast was served in buffet form in the downstairs lobby area and included two choices of ham, salami and cheeses, different jams, nutella, croissants, joghurt and toast. Rather the choices you have at home in your own fridge- it isn´t haute cuisine but tasty enough to get you started for the day out. Check out time was at 12 pm  but we were able to store our luggage until 4 pm, free of charge. Hotel staff was English speaking, but we preferred to practice our French a bit!

                                               Ok let´s sum it up:
We paid 200€ for 2 nights for 2 in a standard room including breakfast for a lovely hotel, with good access to public transport and restaurants in walking distance. Taking into consideration the three stars it is an excellent hotel in it´s class and I couldn´t find a fault to not recommend it to anyone seeking a lovely hotel in this area.
