Nigella´s Chocolate Pavlova

I have to confess that I have never heard about a PAVLOVA cake until my boyfriend sent me a picture of his office afternoon treat and talked me into baking one for his next visit in Munich which also happened to be his birthday. How could I say no?
This pavlova cake was inspired by the recipe of Nigella Lawson and I´m very pleased with the result.
A few words on the baking: The base of the cake is a dark chocolate flavoured merengue that is baked without a baking tin. Through the high temperature the egg white and sugar mix is raising in the oven but flattening when cooling. Once cooling is completed it can basically be topped with any cream / mascarpone / cream cheese and fruit of your choice.
The original recipe was purely cream and raspberry based but I decided to add mascarpone to the cream for stiffness and mixed the raspberries with blueberries and strawberries. 

Best served with a glass of chilled champagne or rose!
